Special Guest Message – CMO Brooke Grossman

While CEO David Shuster is out of the office on travel, Chief Mission Officer Brooke Grossman has stepped in to provide the Monthly Message.

As the CMO, I am excited to share a few highlights from our Mission teams! In Human Resources, Kenneth Winebrenner and Jessica Martz recently received their SHRM (Society for HR Management) certifications after months of coursework. Over in Training and Development, Tammy Elrick and Troy Brant, from TnT Tuesday fame, continue to spread the word about Mental Health First Aid, training more than 50 staff from a neighboring Goodwills.

AND drum roll please….our Workforce and Human Services teams have served more individuals at the mid-point of 2023 than they did in all of 2022.

While my focus is mostly on the Mission, these accomplishments would not be possible without YOU; thank you for doing your part to help us remove barriers and create opportunities across our territory.

Community Health Hub is Open!

The Community Health Hub (CHH) is a joint venture of Meritus Health, Brook Lane, AHEC West, and Horizon Goodwill to bring physical and mental health services to downtown Hagerstown. A primary care office at Horizon Goodwill Industries’ downtown Hagerstown location at 200 N. Prospect Street, Hagerstown, MD 21742. The CHH offers many services and will not turn away anyone, regardless of their insurance status, and the CHH is available to ALL EMPLOYEES!

At the Community Health Hub, we believe no one should go without care!

Available Services

Primary Health Care
Meritus Health provides a nurse practitioner to be on-site Monday to perform primary care, blood pressure screenings, health navigation, and referrals. Meritus Health is Western Maryland’s largest healthcare provider. (Mon, Wed, & Thur 8 AM – 3 PM)

Mental Health Support
Brook Lane will provide assessments, counseling, and referrals to appropriate intervention services. Brook Lane is western Maryland’s largest non-profit mental health system, providing inpatient and outpatient therapy. (Tue & Fri 10 AM – 2 PM)

Health Insurance Navigation
AHEC West assists people with insurance so that no one will be turned away based on insurance status; they will be seen and then connected to a healthcare navigator from AHEC West to assist them in becoming insured. AHEC West is a part of the Maryland Health Connection. (Wednesdays 8 AM – 4 PM)

Housing Navigation, Employment Services, and Administration
Horizon Goodwill Industries houses and staffs the Community Health Hub office but also is available for housing navigation and employment services. HGI also provides the space where the CHH is located as well as managing the office and facilities. (Mon – Fri 8 AM – 4 PM)

In the future, there will also be Dental Services available!

Learn About a Hot HGI Contract

Did you know Horizon Goodwill has held a cleaning contract with Maryland Fire and Rescue (MFRI) since 1998? Three employees, Katie Acton, Leslie Jedlowski, and Jammie Fields, clean the facility. They are responsible for removing the trash, vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms and windows, and dusting twice weekly. The facility underwent a major remodel and reopened on 7/24/23, with the contract returning to Goodwill.

The Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute’s (MFRI) Western Maryland Regional Training Center provides state-of-the-art training areas for first responders. More than 1,200 first responders train annually at the center that was constructed in 1992. The training site, located near two state prisons along U.S. Route 220, is one of seven regional training centers. Other facilities in the state of Maryland include Centerville, Edgewood, La Plata, Mount Airy, and Princess Anne, in addition to the University of Maryland’s College Park campus.

“We Are All People First!”

On August 3, 2023, Bobby Maguire and Tammy Elrick, members of the People and Culture team, joined the Business Services team and traveled to Ft. Detrick to meet with Horizon Goodwill employees at the government contract site. The goal was to facilitate a training surrounding the topics of communication and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Approximately forty HGI staff attended the training, and Spanish translation was provided by Sila Alegret-Bartel from International Corporate Training and Marketing (ICTM) in Hagerstown. Activities included charades (demonstrating the ability to communicate without speaking), a few moments of identifying how certain words or phrases can make us feel, and a “Diversity Circle” where team members learned that we cannot truly know who people are just by looking at each other. Feedback from the training was positive, with one employee stating, “We need more things like this.” The People and Culture team (formerly known as Human Resources and Training and Development) look forward to many more opportunities to support and grow our Horizon Goodwill family in the near future.

New Vision, Mission, Purpose, & Values

As we enter a new year, Horizon Goodwill Industries is excited to share a significant development that reflects our commitment to growth and positive impact. Over the past year, our senior leadership and board of directors engaged in a thorough review of our foundational elements, leading to a thoughtful evolution of our Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Values.

Our previous statements were mission statements: ‘Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities. Vision Statement: ‘Helping people realize and achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work. Our Values included “Passion, Character, Celebration, Service, and Compassion.”

The Evolution Process:
After careful consideration and extensive discussions, we embarked on a journey to redefine how we perceive our work, how the public observes us in action, and how our clients and employees engage with our mission.

Introducing Our Renewed Approach:
New for 2024, we are thrilled to unveil our updated Vision, Mission, Purpose & Values. This poster encapsulates the essence of our renewed commitment to positively impacting individuals and communities.

The New Horizon Goodwill Perspective:

Mission: Removing Barriers to Social Mobility/
Vision: Empowered People, Sustainable Communities.
Purpose: Meeting people where THEY are, helping them get where THEY want to be.
Values: We embody HOPE through being Human-Centered, Optimistic, Perseverant, and Engaged.

Horizon Goodwill’s Mobile Outreach: Empowering Underserved Communities

In October 2023, we held a ribbon cutting was held for Horizon Goodwill’s Mobile Van. Horizon Goodwill Industries is launching a groundbreaking mobile outreach program to extend its services beyond Hagerstown. This initiative targets housing, unemployment, and healthcare access in underserved areas. The primary focus of this initiative is to assist the homeless and those at risk of eviction in finding stable housing. The mobile outreach van will also play a crucial role in generating employment opportunities for the unemployed and providing healthcare services, including both medical and mental health support.

Sharnae Deshields, the HGI Outreach Coordinator, highlighted the significance of reaching communities with limited access to essential resources. “We are meeting people where they are in the community. This mobile van allows us to go on the outskirts of the community where people have less access to the resources that we offer in the city,” Deshields explained.

What sets this program apart is its comprehensive approach. The mobile vehicle is not only a means of transportation for those in need but also a hub for accessing social services. Case managers on board will actively assist individuals in securing the support they require.

Hagerstown Mayor Takesha Martinez emphasized the practicality of the outreach van. “If you need a computer to apply for food stamps, you can do that on this mobile unit,” Martinez stated. This highlights the van’s role not only in providing immediate assistance but also in facilitating essential administrative tasks, such as job applications or Medicare forms.

The initiative received a significant boost through a grant from the Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services. Collaboration with the Hagerstown Department of Community and Economic Development also played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life.

By taking services directly to the heart of underserved communities, Horizon Goodwill Industries is making a tangible impact on the lives of those who need it most. This mobile outreach is a testament to the organization’s commitment to fostering positive change and creating opportunities for individuals facing housing instability, unemployment, and limited access to healthcare. As the mobile van hits the road, it promises empowerment, support, and a brighter future for communities on the outskirts of Hagerstown.

May 3rd, the 68th Annual Power of Work Awards were held at the old Burhans Store, now the Business Services Commercial Cleaning offices.

Our Power of Work Awards Event recognizes our clients’ and community partners’ hard work, dedication, and mission support each year. These individuals and businesses embody our mission of Removing Barriers and Creating Opportunities for employment throughout our four-state territory. The first week of May is recognized as National Goodwill Week, and we use this opportunity to hold our annual event.

Nearly 150 people were in attendance, including a representative from Senator Chris Van Hollen’s office, County Commissioners John Barr, Jeff Cline, and Randy Wagner, newly appointed Hagerstown Mayor, Tekesha Martinez, and Waynesboro, PA Mayor Don Starlipper. Current and former Horizon Goodwill Board members were on hand as well.

Below are the awards, award winners, and videos highlighting why they were selected:

Mission Partner of the Year – Employee Benefits Services (EBS)

This award recognizes a business or organization that provides aid or has otherwise supported Horizon Goodwill in its efforts to assist individuals with overcoming barriers to employment, thereby helping Goodwill fulfill its mission.

Horizon Goodwill’s leadership team is committed to integrating our mission of removing barriers and creating opportunities into our daily business practices. We recognize that our employees should be supported with the same compassion and creativity that we use to support program participants. Like many of the individuals served by HGI’s mission team, access to affordable healthcare presents a challenge to its employees. Employee Benefits Solutions (EBS) was an early adopter of the mission integration philosophy and went right to work to find affordable healthcare solutions for our employees that meet their needs. EBS has been on the front lines of advocating for HGI, removing barriers to access to quality care, and creating opportunities for our employees to manage their health while keeping overall program costs lower than more traditional solutions.

Employer of the Year – Meritus Health

This award recognizes an employer who has demonstrated outstanding support for assisting individuals by hiring program graduates or otherwise contributing to greater outplacement of program participants through their partnering with Horizon Goodwill Industries.

Meritus Health is part of a group of organizations working together to connect people with sustainable employment opportunities. A team consisting of members representing Meritus Health, Horizon Goodwill Industries (HGI), and Maryland Physicians Care (MPC) have developed an innovative pilot program, “Pathways to Healthcare Careers,” which places low/moderate income candidates directly into living wage positions in one of five identified divisions at Meritus with support from HGI and MPC.

In addition to partnering on this innovative employment program, Meritus Health has also worked with Horizon Goodwill on several other health and business initiatives. The two organizations successfully obtained funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) SEED fund. The SEED Community Development Anchor Institution Fund will aid in creating a full-service grocery store operated by Horizon Goodwill Industries in the Hagerstown downtown core on Prospect St. This project aims to improve community economic and health outcomes by offering affordable healthy food options in the City.

Further collaborative efforts to improve access to healthcare resulted in the award of funds from the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission’s “Pathways to Health Equity” program. This project will be known as the Hagerstown Health HUB. The two-year grant allows for the opening of a primary care office at Horizon Goodwill Industries’ downtown Hagerstown location. Meritus Health will provide a full-time nurse practitioner to staff the site. Patients will not be turned away based on insurance status; they will be seen and then connected to a healthcare navigator to assist them in obtaining health insurance.

Business Partner of the Year – Schroeder Industries

This award recognizes a business or organization that has partnered with Horizon Goodwill Industries through a contract relationship, which significantly benefits our clients by providing work opportunities for the individuals we served.

Schroeder Industries has partnered with Horizon Goodwill Industries to provide paid work training opportunities for program participants to develop job skills and habits in a real work environment. These experiences are designed to help prepare individuals for competitive employment while also strengthening their work history. Maintaining close communication with HGI’s workforce development team, Schroeder staff share frequent performance feedback and assist program participants in achieving their paid work training goals.

So far, Schroeder has provided five program participants the opportunity to complete 90 days of paid work training and has offered additional temporary labor position opportunities to four program participants that successfully completed the paid training program. Schroeder has also provided gas stipend bonuses — added to each paycheck — for program participants that reached weekly attendance goals.

Chuck S. Robinette Spirit of Goodwill Award – Michael Twigg

This award was established in memory of a former client at the Cumberland Development Center’s Adult Day Habilitation Program; this award honors an individual with disabilities who has shown great progress and accomplishment in independent functioning & participation in the community. Their exceptional hard work and perseverance display a true Goodwill “spirit” in overcoming barriers.

Michael Twigg began interacting with the Cumberland, MD, office of Horizon Goodwill in 1991 and successfully found employment at a local Cumberland restaurant, where he worked for 30 years. Last year, he decided to look for work due to changes in how his former employer treated him. He returned to Horizon Goodwill after attending a Cut Cloth Work event hosted by the Mission Team in 2022. At the event, Mike interviewed with Holiday Inn and Suites and was offered a position as a Dining Room Attendant. He started work on August 29, 2022, working three days a week for a total of 12-15 hours a week.

Mike takes immense pride in being a valued employee within his community. He continues to receive Supported Employment services in the DDA program. He has shown determination and perseverance in his new position over the last six months, overcoming emotional challenges and pursuing what he values and what is important to him. Mike embodies this award to the fullest, relying on his integrity to help him through difficult situations and maintaining his spirit despite obstacles.

Young Adult Achiever of the Year – Elizabeth Shoemaker

This award honors an outstanding young adult aged 18-24 who has made significant progress in overcoming barriers to employment, education, or basic needs while accessing services at Horizon Goodwill’s Young Adult Solution Center.

Elizabeth came to Horizon Goodwill in Hagerstown, MD, facing homelessness and unemployment. Her family was approved for public housing, which did not include her, and she was left seeking solutions to her own housing situation. Elizabeth entered the Youth Shelter program and began working with Housing Navigation, who referred her to Jane Hawkins to begin the process of job searching. She landed a paid job training position at the HGI Hagerstown Warehouse and, with grit and determination, has now become an HGI employee. In just a few short months, Elizabeth became housed, is now living independently in her own place, and still working full-time with Horizon Goodwill. She says she loves her job and home. In a matter of months, she successfully obtained employment and overcame the reality of finding a safe, affordable place to live despite her age and lack of rental history.

Achiever of the Year – Rhonda Eastman

This award honors an individual who has made significant progress in overcoming barriers to employment, education, and/or basic needs while accessing Horizon Goodwill services.

Rhonda came to the Hagerstown Cut Cloth Work job fair in March of 2022, searching for work and housing. At age 65, Rhonda was new to Maryland, without family or friends to lean on and without a home or job. She also lacked her own transportation, frequently requiring her to walk to address her needs. She had exceeded her allowed time at The Salvation Army’s Women’s Shelter, leaving her sleeping in a booth at a local Pilot/McDonald’s. After participating in the job fair, Rhonda’s life improved. She landed a paid work training opportunity with Horizon Goodwill, discussed housing navigation that same day, and was placed in the Adult Shelter Program. From there, she completed her 90-day paid work training and was offered a permanent employment opportunity.

She’s still working with HGI today, and a few short months after entering the shelter program, she was approved for public housing and moved into her new place. She has achieved her initial goals by participating in Workforce Development, Adult Shelter, and Housing Navigation services. She is an inspiration, reminding her colleagues that you are never too old to
reinvent yourself.

Graduate of the Year – Rashad Peggues

This award honors an individual who has made significant progress in overcoming barriers to employment, education, and/or basic needs while accessing Horizon Goodwill services.

Rashad and his daughter were homeless, sleeping where they could with friends and family until he entered the Young Adult Program. The program placed Rashad and his daughter in a hotel until a permanent housing opportunity became available. Rashad applied for a custodial position at a Horizon Goodwill job fair and was hired as a custodian in July 2021. Since finding the help he needed to get started, Rashad has provided a home for himself and his daughter. Despite being challenged by several medical issues, Rashad has overcome them to return to work, putting his best effort forward on every shift. No matter how busy he may be, his positive and helpful attitude always shines through, making time to hold a door open or offer a kind greeting to others.

What is “DEI” anyway?
DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. It refers to creating a workplace culture that values and respects differences among employees (Diversity), promotes fairness and equal access to opportunities and resources (Equity), and ensures that everyone feels valued, included, and able to succeed (Inclusion).

What is our commitment?
Our DEI Commitment is about creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and valued, regardless of their race, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age, or any other characteristic that makes them unique. It fosters a culture of understanding, where employees are encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives and all voices are heard and valued.

The values and importance of DEI are central to our mission and also reach far beyond our walls and daily work at HGI. Martin Luther King, Jr. pointed out that:

The Hagerstown Health Hub is now open!

On-site Primary Care is now available at the new Hagerstown Health Hub. This office is now open at the HGI2 facility at 200 North Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD. The new offices are finished, and Meritus staff are on hand to help with many services, including COVID and Flu Shots and Blood Pressure or Diabetes screenings. There are also monthly educational classes, and Care Coordination and Health Navigation are also available.

Any Washington County resident who would establish a primary care relationship is eligible for these services. Insured and uninsured residents will be connected with a Health Insurance Navigator to help with establishing some coverage. Horizon Goodwill Industries employees are welcome to use these services as well. The Hagerstown Health Hub is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8 AM – 3 PM.

Meet Danny Shoemaker

Danny works for the Custodial Department of Business Services. He started at Horizon Goodwill on January 9, 2018, and works at the Sideling Hill Rest Area.

At age 29, Danny found himself addicted to prescription drugs. Like many in this situation, the pills that seemed to help initially eventually took over and ran his life for six years. At the age of 35, Danny knew he needed to make a change before the situation became irreversible. Danny found the strength within to quit the pills on his own with no outside help and has been clean since.

Thinking his tough times in life were over, Danny was confronted with another seemingly insurmountable challenge. His daughter was driving, and there was a severe accident in which 2 of her close friends lost their lives. His daughter was sentenced to 3 yrs. for this tragic mistake. Danny struggled every day for 2 yrs. waiting for his daughter’s sentencing. His job and work friends at Sidling Hill helped to keep his mind off the situation and gave him people to talk to about what he was going through. Their support was invaluable. It felt good to have friends to talk to about what he was dealing with. Without the sustainable, meaningful employment opportunity this contract provides, it is hard to know if Danny would have the strength to avoid a relapse or worse.

Danny has overcome a lot in his life and is a great asset to Goodwill and the EWP program. He is a hard worker and has a caring and funny personality. With all of Danny’s struggles that he has gone through in his life, he never let them stop him from trying to improve his life. He has a lot of willpower and strength to not turn back to pills, and it is comforting to know that his employment opportunity plays an ongoing role in that success.

When not working, he enjoys time with his dog, Ellie May, and cats Norbit, Curious, Bandit, Crack Doodle, Momma, Malo, Frosty, and Olly Bear. He also enjoys sitting on his deck and having cookouts with friends.

Dell Reconnect — Technology Recycling with Goodwill®

In 2004, Dell joined together with Goodwill® Industries to create the Dell Reconnect program. Consumers can drop off their used computer equipment at one of the 2,000+ participating Goodwill locations in 44 states in the US to be responsibly recycled for free. The trained staff throughout our Goodwill partners will sort and process the equipment to be picked up and recycled by Dell. The Dell Reconnect program not only helps create jobs in the community for people with disabilities and disadvantages but also helps foster the circular economy: it replaces the ‘end-of-life’ concept with restoration and aims to eliminate waste. Plastics and gold collected will be recycled into new computer parts through Dell’s closed-loop recycling process.

Dell Reconnect accepts any brand of computer equipment in any condition. This includes Computers, Monitors, Printers, Scanners, Hard Drives, Keyboards, Mice, Speakers, and Cables. To learn more, click here.

The Search Continues

We are currently interviewing candidates for the Vice President of People and Culture. The selected person will lead the development, implementation, and management of effective human resource strategies. They’ll establish an organizational culture built on caring, inclusivity, growth, and accountability while advancing the economic sustainability of the communities we serve. They will also lead the implementation of HGI’s diversity, equity, and inclusion plan. This person will also collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to attract, motivate, develop, and retain an outstanding workforce to support organizational growth. We’re hoping to bring on someone very soon!

There was no Living Our Values Award winner in January, but keep an eye out in Paycom link for the next Living Our Values Award. The nomination survey will be coming later this month!

Happy Holidays!

For those of you that may not know, here at Horizon Goodwill, we operate on a calendar year budget and planning calendar. That means that each year as we enter December, we are already looking ahead with excitement at our plans and objectives for the next year. These are certainly the goals that keep us excited and returning each day. Regardless of our enthusiasm for the future, the end of the current year also reminds us to reflect on all that we accomplished this year and the positive impact that each of us, no matter our job or responsibilities, has had on the people around us and in our communities. As an organization, we strive to give back more than we receive, and that certainly aligns with the spirit of the season. I hope as the year winds down, you will take a moment to reflect and celebrate the service and compassion that each of you has given this year while also recognizing what a long way we still have to go in many of our communities.

In that spirit, I leave you with this quote from William Carey Jones, a former US Congressman: “The Joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others’ burdens, easing each other’s loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of the holidays.”

The Passing of a Long-Time Employee and Client: Byyan Boddie (9/7/1968 – 12/1/2022)

Byyan lived at Council for Exceptional Children and Adults in their residential program from 2003 until his passing. He entered Horizon Goodwill Industries Supported Employment Program from 1990 until 2021. Byyan’s employment included dishwashing and custodial work at a local restaurant and various contracts with Goodwill Industries, and he worked as a dishwasher for Marriot Corporation at FSU for over ten years. Byyan was active in his community through a variety of volunteer work in his community, including Western Maryland Food Bank, recycling projects, the local Animal Shelter, nursing homes, and cleaning up trails at Rocky Gap State Park. Byyan loved staying active and held a special place in his heart for his friends, caregivers at Goodwill and CECA, and his mother, Joyce Harper.

He thoroughly enjoyed dancing, playing the air guitar, bowling, listening to his favorite music, early rock and 80’s, karaoke, holiday parties, and the tv show Chips with Jon Baker and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello. One of Byyan’s biggest moments was meeting Erik Estrada from Chips. In 2018 Byyan received the Chuck Robinette Spirit of Goodwill award. This award honors an individual with disabilities who shows great progress and accomplishments in independent functioning and participation within their community. Byyan’s exceptionally hard work and perseverance certainly displayed a true Goodwill “spirit” in overcoming barriers.

Byyan had an infectious laugh and the best smile. He brightened everyone’s day when he walked into the room. He took such great pride in his appearance and always wanted to look and do his best. Byyan was a role model to others and was never afraid to take the lead on projects and show off his talents, which he had so many. Everyone was Byyan’s “buddy,” he had so many, and he cherished each one of them.

We mourn the loss of Byyan, but we will never forget the fond memories. Byyan, you can rest easy knowing you touched so many lives and made this world a better place for all of us. Always in our hearts. We love you and will truly miss you!

Recent Leadership and Staff Changes:

Chris Kackley has accepted the role of Director of Property and Facilities. In this new position, Chris will utilize his extensive background in construction management to develop a stronger real estate strategy and oversee all HGI real estate (owned and leased, residential and commercial), facility maintenance, and safety/asset protection. Chris will report to Sharon Ahrens, Chief Business Officer.

Lance Crossman has accepted the role of Director of Retail. In this role, he will be responsible for oversight of all activity in our donated goods enterprise, including stores, donation centers, e-commerce, transportation, and warehouses/recycling/aftermarket. Lance will report to David Shuster, CEO.

Lance and Chris are working closely together to transition responsibilities and projects between them. I expect there will be additional communication once their work is complete to clarify who to contact for various needs in the future.

Additionally, Angie Engle has transferred to the new role of Associate Director of Donation Acquisition on the Donated Goods Retail team. In her new role, she will be responsible for expanding the acquisition of our donated goods by supporting existing streams and developing new strategies and partnerships.

Website ‘Refresh’ is Live!

Over the summer, the marketing department took on the project of refreshing the current website. Some of the goals of the project were to:

Reorganizing the structure to make it more user friendly
Making the site easier to expand as we bring on new projects (check out the convenience stores, grocery store, and health hub pages.)
Reviewing the content for accuracy and grammar. We’ve also assigned people to oversee the content, so changes are made quickly.
Adding new features and capabilities. Some new features include a better locations page, adding videos, and expanding featured new items.

‘Tis the Season – Open Enrollment is upon us, and as we all prepare for the end of the year with Well Wishes for the next new year…there is much to do!

Don’t forget to attend an open enrollment meeting if you are eligible for benefits.
Seek ways to handle holiday stress – find time for activities you enjoy that bring you comfort and joy.
Make sure your contact information (especially your address!) is correct in Paycom for year-end documents.
Join the festivities of decorating workspaces and wearing your most creative “ugly” sweater!

November’s Living Our Values Award was presented for our “COMPASSION” value. Employees across the HGI organization nominated individuals that they believed embodied this value day in and day out. The employees nominated demonstrate caring and act with kindness with a desire to understand others. They strive to be inclusive while recognizing our differences. They act with the best intent and assume others are doing the same.

Winner: Terri Foote – Associate Director of Workforce Development/Cumberland, MD

We received 63 responses for our Living Our Values – Compassion – Award. Terri was nominated multiple times and has received nominations for other Living Our Values awards in the past few months. Comments for Terri include “Terri takes whatever steps are necessary to ease the suffering of any individual within her reach,” “Terri continuously looks for ways that her team and Goodwill can help others in the community,” and “Terri shows a great deal of compassion for the people in the Cumberland Community.”

Other top nominees included: Filomena Doyle – Project Manager/IRS; Melissa Harris – Warehouse Supervisor/UPIP; and Tonia Nipper – Housing Navigator/HGI-2.

Be sure to make your nominations in December for the Team Spirit Award – This award is given to any “team” that demonstrates qualities of teamwork and loyalty to Horizon Goodwill Industries. The team must demonstrate support for each other and have confidence in the abilities and intentions of each team member. They are successful in working together towards a common goal.
