Hey all! Last week I shared with everyone the incredible challenge Horizon Goodwill threw out there with the Grand Prize being an iPad Mini. It’s no secret, I want that prize, and I told my wife and daughter all about my plan to win it over dinner the other night.  As a dad and a husband, I’m used to sacrificing for my family. Sometimes it’s little things like being forced to watch “Frozen” for the twentieth time when the Pirates are taking a shutout into the 9th, or having to muster up a smile when Missy makes vegetarian hot dogs (yes, there is such a product…and they taste just how you would expect).

Parrotheads Help Spread The Word About Horizon Goodwill

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I don’t consider myself a “Parrothead”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Jimmy Buffet is a nice guy, and there’s no doubt he’s talented; it’s just his beach flavored, feel good music has never appealed to me. I know I’m in the minority here, and I’m ok with that. I will say I do owe Mr. Buffet and The Coral Refer Band a debt of gratitude. Back in 2005 he played PNC Park in Pittsburgh and I tagged along with some friends to see what the whole tailgating experience would be like. It was here that I met my wife. Please, don’t go connecting the dots here, that has nothing to do with why I’m not a big Jimmy Buffet fan. Seriously.

Time To Start Thinking Back To School

Look, I know it’s only the middle of the July, but where’s the harm in a dad looking forward to just a month or so of things going back to normal?  It’s not like the majority of us get to take off what is arguably the best part of the year; getting away from our computer screens and cramped desks,  initiating water balloon fights, selling lemonade on the corner for pocket change and sleeping in after a full night of the Disney Channel, right? Ok, sorry if I sound a bit jaded, but I miss the days of my youth with limited obligations, ice cream sandwiches and afternoons spent playing wiffle ball. Goodwill’s racks and shelves are packed with treasures so we decided to give ourselves a challenge. We went searching for the celebrity looks below at various Horizon Goodwill retail stores to find “celebrity looks-for-less” at an even “thriftier” price than what is listed in those fashion magazines. We had so much fun putting these looks together! We live for a good deal and an exciting treasure hunt. Goodwill is always full of great surprises that are both unique and thrifty! It’s Never Too Late To Become Independent

Hey Readers! Can you believe this weekend is already July 4th? I guess it’s true what they say—the older you get the faster time passes.  At this rate we’ll be talking about ringing in the New Year in a week or two! I remember when I was in my late teens, a year felt like, well, a year. I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I figured I had enough time to come up with something. As you may recall from previous posts, I ended up taking a job in college at the local movie theater that earned me just enough to help pay rent, buy a few text books and to eat three square meals of fast food, pizza and ramen noodles a day. I thought I was on top of the world, making enough money to scrape by every month, confident in the knowledge that I was in charge of my life.
