My name is Brandon Marks. I was recently brought into the Horizon Goodwill family in the role of Director of Business Services. This will be my first blog entry of many that will chronicle my journey into gaining a better understanding of exactly what our capacities and capabilities are. And guess what? I’m taking my readers along for the ride!
Prior to researching Horizon Goodwill for my interview, my understanding of their mission, purpose and scope was limited. I’m guessing that your current understanding of what Goodwill does is a lot like mine had been.
My former understanding was a lot like this– “It’s a place to shop! You can find great deal on used goods in decent condition! Somehow, they help people in need of assistance… Not sure how, but I think by giving them retail jobs?”
While at a base level I was right in that Goodwill does these things, I did not understand anything beyond this. The truth is, this is only a part of the much bigger picture that makes up your Horizon Goodwill.
Each week, I will take you into a new area of our operation. You will get a chance to take a deeper dive into all of the various activities that we are involved in.
