Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude – Jimmy Buffett
Hello HGI friends! I had my September newsletter piece all written and ready to turn in, and it was fantastic. In it, I brilliantly connected the Labor Day holiday with our purpose at Goodwill, no doubt leaving everyone inspired as we slowly close the door on summer and turn our attention to the busy fall season. Ok, true confession: As of Friday, I hadn’t written anything at all. 😊
And then, over the Labor Day weekend, Jimmy Buffett passed away. Some of you probably already know this, and others are probably asking why does this matter and why is Dave writing about it???
Well for one, yours truly is a Parrothead, which means I have followed his career and music for almost thirty years. Jimmy Buffett was not only a successful musician and songwriter but also a lifestyle brand in his own right, known for his “Margaritaville” persona and laid-back, tropical attitude.
Here are several lessons I have learned from his music, adventures, and business:
- Embrace the “Island State of Mind”: Buffett’s music often promotes a relaxed and carefree attitude associated with beach and island life. While not everyone can live on a tropical island, adopting a more relaxed and positive mindset can improve your overall well-being and mental health.
- Find and Follow Your Passion: Jimmy Buffett’s success is largely attributed to his passion for music and storytelling. He followed his passion and turned it into a successful career. Pursuing what you love can lead to both personal fulfillment and professional success.
- Resilience: Like many successful artists, Buffett faced many setbacks and challenges in his career. He persevered through difficult times, demonstrating the importance of resilience and determination in achieving your goals.
- Surround Yourself with Good People: Buffett often collaborated with other more talented musicians and surrounded himself with a supportive team. Building a strong team and support network can help you succeed in your endeavors.
- Live in the Moment: Many of Buffett’s songs emphasize the idea of living in the present and savoring life’s experiences. Practicing mindfulness and being present can lead to greater contentment and joy.
- Seek Adventure: Buffett’s songs and life contain stories of adventure and exploration. Embracing a growth mindset and stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to personal growth and memorable moments.
- Be Kind and Give Back: Jimmy Buffett is known for his generosity and philanthropic efforts, particularly in environmental conservation. Being kind to others and giving back to your community or a cause you’re passionate about can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment and make the world a better place.
We may never get to live the “Margaritaville” lifestyle that he sang about. But if we put our hearts and heads to it, I think we can all find joy and satisfaction in the work we do, the opportunities we have, and what we give back. As he wrote in a song, “with a little love and luck, we will get by.”
With hope and fins up,
Dave
Horizon Goodwill Industries Honored With Award As One Of America’s Best Health Plans
Did you know Horizon Goodwill Industries was recently honored at the inaugural “Rosie Awards” presentation in Chicago with a national health plan excellence and stewardship award? Fifty employers or unions with memberships ranging from 27 to 300,000 were honored by over 700 healthcare and benefits professionals, industry experts, and thought leaders gathered at the Chicago Navy Pier on August 7-9 to discuss strategies for delivering better care at a lower cost while improving patient outcomes. The Rosie Awards are presented by Health Rosetta, a collective of people who have seen health’s future in action and are passionately working to make it a reality.
Dave Chase, Health Rosetta Co-founder, offered additional insight on the 2023 Rosie Award selection criteria behind America’s Best Health Plans: “With health plan costs being one of an organization’s top three expenses, it’s imperative that leadership have a comprehensive third-party assessment to help them understand how their plan is operating, how it compares to high-performance plans, and provides detailed best practices and strategies to improve their plan…”
Horizon Goodwill Industries’ selection as one of the 2023 Rosie Award winners also spotlights the award-winning plan design and advisement led by Health Rosetta Advisor Ben Bohonowicz of Employee Benefit Services of Maryland.
“It’s been an exciting and rewarding experience to guide Horizon Goodwill down the path of a high-performing health plan. The Horizon Goodwill Leadership Team was quick to understand there’s a better way of providing comprehensive health coverage. They’ve been particularly thoughtful about their health plan, really focusing on access, quality of care, cost, and the overall member experience. Benefitting the community is ingrained in HGI’s DNA.
You can see it reflected in their health plan, where HGI employees can receive FREE care on a variety of services:
- Primary Care
- Diagnostics, including Labs, X-rays, and Imaging
- Outpatient/Inpatient Care
- Maintenance Generic, Brand, and Specialty Rx
- $250 deductible on other medical services
- 100% employer-paid Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership
- Employee Only Contributions at $40/pay since 2018
- Free dental and vision coverage for employees enrolled in the health plan
- Up to $500 cash incentive for joining the concierge pharmacy, HaloScrips
Horizon Goodwill Industries can be very proud to be recognized as an industry leader with one of the best health plans in America.”
If you’re enrolled in the HGI Insurance plans, please take advantage of these great benefits!
YOU are making a difference in the lives of many people. It’s the beginning of a new year, but here is your impact through July 2023:
Blessed because Goodwill gives you Chances
Struggling to get by and unable to afford a place for herself and her family in Montgomery County, a friend’s invite brought Tammy Rothgeb-Dawson to Hagerstown and, ultimately, Horizon Goodwill.
Now 60 years old, Tammy grew up in Takoma Park, Maryland. She met her ex-husband at 21, and they had two children – Chris and Billy. But after 27 years of marriage, they decided to separate.
Tammy moved to New Jersey with her youngest, Billy, for eight years. However, things in New Jersey didn’t work out, so they moved back to Montgomery County. By then, her ex-husband had moved out and remarried, so it was just her and her two sons in one of the most expensive counties in the state.
So, grateful for the lifeline from her friend in Hagerstown, she stashed the family’s belongings in storage. She knew she couldn’t stay at her friend’s house indefinitely, but no one was hiring everywhere she looked for work.
“I went everywhere, and nobody was hiring, or I couldn’t get hired on,” she explained. That’s when her friend suggested Goodwill.
After some false starts, the paperwork was finally completed, and she started working in the warehouse. She found a place for her family and, with her brother’s help, moved into the place where she lives to this day.
“I loved it. It made me feel very good because I was helping the less fortunate. Every piece of clothing I would hang was like, I’m helping somebody else,” she said of her work at the warehouse.
The program she was on was temporary but designed to get people on their feet. But after leaving the program, she had difficulty finding something else.
Once again, Goodwill was there. After six months, she came back to work as a core employee. For nearly a decade, she has been working in janitorial services for Goodwill.
“I’ve been with this company for many years now,” she says. “Probably about 8, 10 years. So it’s like my second home.”
It’s a job Tammy enjoys and intends to keep doing until she retires, despite having several health issues. Read her full story here.
Free Book Friday!
For the end of summer, the retail team began a Free Book Friday program at all of the Horizon Goodwill retail stores (excluding / re•find /).
Each Friday, children ages 0-18 can pick out an age-appropriate book at their favorite Horizon Goodwill Store and bring it to the register (no additional purchases are necessary). This promotion is open to all employees and will run from August 18th until Friday, September 8th. There’s still time to take advantage of this great opportunity to help your child enjoy the gift or reading.
Children must be present to receive a free book and are limited to one book per child, one store on Friday only.
This is a Horizon Goodwill Industries-only store promotion. We have stores throughout Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties in Maryland, Fulton and Franklin Counties in Pennsylvania, Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Shenandoah, and Page Counties in Virginia, and Hardy, Grant, Hampshire, Mineral, Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson Counties in West Virginia.
Tammy Elrick completes her certification as a Goodwill® Career Coach and Navigator Professional!
Tammy recently completed her certification as a Goodwill® Career Coach and Navigator Professional on August 15th.
This International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited Professional Certificate includes four beginner-level courses to help you build skills that prepare you for an entry-level Career Coach or Navigator job. She learned from other Career Coaches and Navigator professionals to gain insights from the job seekers and career advancers they serve. Now that she’s completed all the courses, she can use those credits toward the International Coaching Federation (ICF) credential renewal requirements. She now has skills that include human-centered communication, conducting assessments, career planning, preparing clients for a new career, and other items.
She learned about the following items:
- Explain the foundational concepts of Career Coaching and Navigating.
- Familiarize clients with the Career Coaching and Navigation experience.
- Discover career possibilities for Career Navigators and Career Coaches.
- Describe common Career Development theories, models, and tools.
- Summarize Coaching Agreements and Career Service Plans.
- Identify professional and ethical standards.
- Describe human-centered approaches to Career Coaching and Navigating.
This program included more than 40 hours of instruction, including scenario-based activities that enabled her to be in the mindset of a career navigator and to prepare her for real-life situations she may encounter on the job.
Congratulations Tammy!

August 2023 Newsletter
Welcome to the Horizon Goodwill Industries company newsletter.
Our Mission is: Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities.
August 2023 Vol. 2, Edition 2
Special Guest Message – CMO Brooke Grossman
While CEO David Shuster is out of the office on travel, Chief Mission Officer Brooke Grossman has stepped in to provide the Monthly Message.
As the CMO, I am excited to share a few highlights from our Mission teams! In Human Resources, Kenneth Winebrenner and Jessica Martz recently received their SHRM (Society for HR Management) certifications after months of coursework. Over in Training and Development, Tammy Elrick and Troy Brant, from TnT Tuesday fame, continue to spread the word about Mental Health First Aid, training more than 50 staff from a neighboring Goodwills.
AND drum roll please….our Workforce and Human Services teams have served more individuals at the mid-point of 2023 than they did in all of 2022.
While my focus is mostly on the Mission, these accomplishments would not be possible without YOU; thank you for doing your part to help us remove barriers and create opportunities across our territory.
Community Health Hub is Open!
The Community Health Hub (CHH) is a joint venture of Meritus Health, Brook Lane, AHEC West, and Horizon Goodwill to bring physical and mental health services to downtown Hagerstown. The CHH offers many services and will not turn away anyone, regardless of their insurance status, and the CHH is available to ALL EMPLOYEES!
At the Community Health Hub, we believe no one should go without care!

Housing Navigation, Employment Services, and Administration
Horizon Goodwill Industries houses and staffs the Community Health Hub office but also is available for housing navigation and employment services. HGI also provides the space where the CHH is located as well as managing the office and facilities. (Mon – Fri 8 AM – 4 PM)

YOU are making a difference in the lives of many people! It’s the beginning of a new year, but here is your impact through June 2023:
Learn About a Hot HGI Contract
Did you know Horizon Goodwill has held a cleaning contract with Maryland Fire and Rescue (MFRI) since 1998? Three employees, Katie Acton, Leslie Jedlowski, and Jammie Fields, clean the facility. They are responsible for removing the trash, vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms and windows, and dusting twice weekly. The facility underwent a major remodel and reopened on 7/24/23, with the contract returning to Goodwill.
The Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute’s (MFRI) Western Maryland Regional Training Center provides state-of-the-art training areas for first responders. More than 1,200 first responders train annually at the center that was constructed in 1992. The training site, located near two state prisons along U.S. Route 220, is one of seven regional training centers. Other facilities in the state of Maryland include Centerville, Edgewood, La Plata, Mount Airy, and Princess Anne, in addition to the University of Maryland’s College Park campus.

Great job to everyone at the stores!
“We Are All People First!”
On August 3, 2023, Bobby Maguire and Tammy Elrick, members of the People and Culture team, joined the Business Services team and traveled to Ft. Detrick to meet with Horizon Goodwill employees at the government contract site. The goal was to facilitate a training surrounding the topics of communication and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Approximately forty HGI staff attended the training, and Spanish translation was provided by Sila Alegret-Bartel from International Corporate Training and Marketing (ICTM) in Hagerstown. Activities included charades (demonstrating the ability to communicate without speaking), a few moments of identifying how certain words or phrases can make us feel, and a “Diversity Circle” where team members learned that we cannot truly know who people are just by looking at each other. Feedback from the training was positive, with one employee stating, “We need more things like this.” The People and Culture team (formerly known as Human Resources and Training and Development) look forward to many more opportunities to support and grow our Horizon Goodwill family in the near future.

Thank You, CARF Team!!
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a full three-year CARF Accreditation*. When we started this process over a year ago, we were advised that as a first-time applicant we would most likely receive only a one-year provisional accreditation. I am very proud of our team, who took that as a challenge and said,”why not” and went for the full three! Following the positive feedback received by the CARF auditors, we were certainly hopeful that we would receive the standard 1-year Provisional Accreditation given to first-time applicants. Being awarded the maximum 3-year Accreditation was a delightful surprise and a testament to the good work we all do here at Goodwill.
*The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services programs. Accreditation signifies to those we work with, whether that’s our program participants, insurance providers, or the institutions that help fund our work, that we’re committed to receiving feedback, continuously improving our services, and to serving the communities in our region.
Thank you to our CARF Team!

YOU are making a difference in the lives of many people. It’s the beginning of a new year, but here is your impact through May 2023:
Celebrating Eight Years of Excellence at Western Maryland Children’s Center
We are excited to announce that the Western Maryland Children’s Center (WMCC) is celebrating eight years under the management of Horizon Goodwill. Since July 15, 2015, the dedicated WMCC team has worked diligently to maintain the facility and provide a safe environment for the youth it serves.
James Taylor and Elton Austin, two original crew members, have been with WMCC since the beginning, contributing their experience and knowledge to the team. Alongside them, John Streeter and Chris Graser have seamlessly integrated their skills and expertise into daily operations.
A second crew was added for Saturdays to ensure the facility remains in top-notch shape while allowing the crew to rest. Kara Armstrong, Roy Swim, and Chris Graser make up this team, exemplifying the spirit of teamwork and dedication.
Maintaining the facility’s floors is essential, and Donnie Trumpower and Dale Gatrell take on this responsibility. They perform monthly maintenance on various floor types, including VCT, epoxy, and ceramic tiles.
WMCC’s commitment to excellence is acknowledged not only by Horizon Goodwill but also by unannounced visits from Maryland state officials, which testify to the high standards upheld by the team.
Despite facing challenges such as an early start time of 4:30 am, seven days a week, the WMCC team remains steadfast in their commitment to creating a nurturing environment for the youth.
As we celebrate eight years of successful management at WMCC, we thank the entire team for their dedication. James Taylor, Elton Austin, John Streeter, Chris Graser, Kara Armstrong, Roy Swim, Donnie Trumpower, and Dale Gatrell have all played a significant role in WMCC’s success.
Join us in celebrating this remarkable milestone at WMCC, and let us look forward to many more years of continued success and positive impact on the lives of the children served by this exceptional center.

June 2023 Newsletter
Welcome to the Horizon Goodwill Industries company newsletter.
Our Mission is: Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities.
June 2023 Vol. 1, Edition 12
Ask Yourself “Why Not”?
Last month we celebrated the successes of our Annual Awards recipients against the backdrop of the work we know has yet to be accomplished. As uncomfortable as it may be, we acknowledge the systems of perpetual poverty that exist across our territory. And yet, the stories we shared demonstrate the power of persistence, partnership, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of a better tomorrow. They are the embodiment of hope and our commitment to be future-focused in all we do.
So, how do we alleviate the economic conditions that perpetuate poverty? How do we ensure equitable access to critical resources? How do we help people believe that there is a pathway to a better tomorrow? Too often we spend our time seeking to explain or justify why these things are the way they are. Instead, I want to challenge you to be different; to do as we do at Horizon Goodwill – imagine what is possible and ask why not?
- Why not open a free medical clinic in an area that has no local access to these services?
- Why not provide a safe place for a young adult to live until they can afford one on their own?
- Why not open a grocery store so that food doesn’t cost 200% more for those who lack transportation?
- Why not reimagine pathways to employment through partnerships with inclusive employers and organizations?
- WHY NOT?
Take the stories we shared last month of creativity and commitment and use them to propel you forward to action. Have the courage to challenge legacy beliefs and systems that perpetuate the cycle of crisis and do not lift people out of poverty. Challenge yourself to meet people where they are, listen to understand their experiences, and believe as we do in the simple truth that most people really do not want just a handout – they want a hand up. Each of you has an opportunity to demonstrate what is possible when given opportunity.
Work with us towards creating a more equitable society that ensures everyone has access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Be relentlessly future-focused, spread hope, and dream of things that don’t exist, and ask, why (the heck) not.
Thanks for being on our team, Dave
YOU are making a difference in the lives of many people. It’s the beginning of a new year, but here is your impact through April 2023:
Team Spotlight: Sideling Hill Visitors Center
If you’re traveling out to Western Maryland on Rt. 68, you’ve probably passed by the Sideling Hill Visitors Center. You may not know this, but HGI Business Services has a contract to maintain that location.
Our custodial staff at Sideling Hill work as a team to keep restrooms clean on the west and eastbound sides. We are always staffed 24 hours a day and seven days a week including holidays and bad weather. Our team is responsible for maintaining buildings including carpet cleaning, restroom maintenance, and window cleaning. Our team removes ice and snow in winter to keep travelers safe on the walkways.
The staff stays very busy during the fall, spring, and summer. All grassy areas are kept mowed and trimmed. Flowers are planted and thinned out, and weed removal is an everyday job during the summer. All fence lines and banks are kept weed-free as well. The picnic tables, railings, and trash cans are scraped and painted each season. Mulch is put down every season, and all trees and shrubbery are kept neatly trimmed. The parking lots and curbs are swept on every shift. All trash cans inside and outside are collected several times every shift. During the spring and fall, leaves are raked and cleaned. Some plumbing and carpentry work is sometimes required, which the staff handles.
We have four staff members on shift 6 am-2 pm and three staff members on 2 pm- 10 pm and two on shift 10 pm-6 am. Most of the outside work is done from 6 am-8 pm. Anything that Maryland State Highway Administration (MSHA) requests to be done on-site, our team works together to get done.

Tractor Supply Donated Equipment to Horizon Goodwill Industries
Tractor Supply Company (TSC) recently provided a forklift and shrink-wrap machine to HGI. Adding these pieces to our warehouse on Pennsylvania Ave will enable HGI to be more efficient with the storage and processing of donated materials and to package our loads more securely as they are sent to our retail stores and other warehouse facilities.
While HGI has used forklifts in the past, the shrink wrap machine is something new to HGI, and its use can be applied across the warehouse. Shrink-wrapping these loads will be much safer for all warehouse employees rather than just strapping down a load or placing a bin for rack storage.
Angie Engle, Horizon Goodwill Director of Donation Acquisitions, said “We are so grateful for the generosity of this donation. Although we do receive much of our donations from the community, it’s next level to see companies like Tractor Supply being so supportive.”
The entire their entire management team at TSC was excited and very helpful throughout the entire process of donating. Partnering within the community can make each organization stronger. Potentially Horizon Goodwill program participants could become TSC employees or part-time associates while TSC has provided the equipment to make Horizon Goodwill more efficient.
Welcome to Bobby Maguire, Vice President of People and Culture
Horizon Goodwill Industries (HGI) recently named Bobby Maguire the new People and Culture Vice President.
Bobby brings ten years of professional experience from multiple industries to the organization. In his new role, Bobby will provide strategic leadership for HGI’s newly formed People and Culture division, consisting of the current Human Resources and Training and Development divisions.
“As a service member in the United States Army, I served to protect America’s freedoms. Now as a member of the Leadership team at HGI, I’m excited to be part of a team dedicated to helping people enjoy those freedoms I served to protect.”
Before Horizon Goodwill, Bobby worked for NVR Inc as a Workforce Development Special Projects Manager, where he focused on NVR’s talent strategy, optimizing the Candidate and Employee Experience, emerging leader development, retention management initiatives, employee engagement, onboarding, and training.
“People are the lifeblood of any organization. Creating an environment where people enjoy coming to work and have a good experience doing so shouldn’t be the exception to the rule. I’m excited to bring my experience in continually improving the employee experience to an organization that positively impacts the people in our communities.”
Bobby Maguire is currently a member at large at Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, is the proud father of two boys, and resides with his wife Crystal in Hagerstown.

April 2023 Newsletter
Welcome to the Horizon Goodwill Industries company newsletter.
Our Mission is: Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities.
April 2023 Vol. 1, Edition 10
What is Hope?
For many people, the coming of spring is a sign of hope after the dark, cold days of winter. But what IS hope exactly?
Often our understanding of hope comes mainly from how it is used in our everyday vocabulary, where it is used to express a vague wish for something good to happen, such as:
“I hope I get a good grade on this test,” or “Hopefully, my job interview goes well,” etc.
Many don’t realize that hope is actually a powerful human trait that positive psychologists and scientists have researched. It is a future-focused belief that tomorrow can be better than today, and I can make it happen.
Within that belief, there are three primary components of hope:
- Goals: These are the positive ideas we have for a better tomorrow.
- Pathways: These are the strategies and activities you develop to reach your goals.
- Agency: The motivation to use your strategies and the confidence that you will succeed in your efforts.
It is important to understand that Hope also recognizes that there will be barriers on the way to achieving your goals and that by relying on your sense of confidence and resilience, you can find alternative pathways if the one you are on gets blocked.
Goodwill’s Role
Many individuals seeking assistance from Goodwill are often hopeless or in despair. They are experiencing one or more barriers to obtaining meaningful employment. Most often, they know or want to be employed (the goal, if you will), but they may not see or understand the steps they need to take to get there. It is also possible that they know what they need to do but have failed in the past and, as a result, don’t have the motivation or confidence to take the first steps.
Goodwill helps people rebuild their hope. For some, this involves helping them to eliminate barriers and create the pathways needed to obtain employment. For others, this is supporting them along their pathway and acknowledging each small accomplishment along the way to build confidence. Most importantly, our staff is there to hold on to hope for these individuals as they work to get over, under, around, or through barriers they might encounter.
Be a Hope Dealer
There is an old business cliché that states “Hope is not a strategy.” I think this is based on our common use of the word hope and not an understanding of the real power of hope. On the contrary, I believe that “Hope is the ONLY strategy” because the cool thing about hope is that it behaves like ripples in a pond; one hopeful individual can inspire hope in another, and the effect grows from there. At HGI, no matter what your position, part of your job is to be a Hope Dealer – supporting, inspiring, and helping others achieve their goals for a better life.
With hope, Dave
Introducing Jessica Scott!
Jessica Scott is the new Associate Director of Housing Services. She has lived in Hagerstown for 30 years but will always be a Jersey Girl, born and raised on the beaches of NJ. She comes to Goodwill with 25 years of nonprofit management experience, the most recent ten years being as the Program Director at Habitat for Humanity. Jessica is a mother of 7 and grandmother of 10. She serves on several local nonprofit boards in her spare time and loves taking road trips with her girlfriends or dancing to some good music. She will provide management support to the housing programs that Goodwill has.
YOU are making a difference in the lives of many people. It’s the beginning of a new year, but here is your impact through February 2023:
Jeff Green – Maryland Works Awards Nominee
If you work in Hagerstown, you’ve probably seen Jeff working on the local janitorial team, but you may not know his name. Here is an introduction, a photo, and some background information on why he was nominated for the Maryland Works Award.
Jeff has worked with Horizon Goodwill Industries for 3.5 years and has been an integral part of the success of our Custodial Department ever since. Due to his work ethic and attention to detail, and despite difficulties, Jeff has worked his way up from custodian to become a Crew Leader, which services our Corporate Office, HGI-2, and several Maryland State sites, including the Hagerstown MVA and the DLLR office along with other commercial sites. In addition to his regular shifts, Jeff has taken on extra shifts at Victor Cullen Children’s Center and Western Maryland Children’s Center.
Jeff is easy-going, pleasant to work with, and a great example of hard work and dedication. He always shows up to work with a smile, and that smile spreads to the whole department. As a veteran, he always wants to keep busy and support others inside and outside Horizon Goodwill. Jeff strives to be the best person he can be and wants to be a positive example of triumph over hardship.
Apart from work, Jeff is an avid movie enthusiast. He is always up for discussing some of his favorite movies between furnishing his newly acquired apartment.
Before Horizon Goodwill employed Jeff, he had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction. He had come to realize; he was not happy with his lifestyle and wanted a change. He was able to get in touch with North Pointe Veterans Home and enter a sobriety program. After focusing on his rehabilitation, he was ready to enter the workforce again. His resource coordinator contacted Horizon Goodwill, where he was hired in 2017 and began working at the Department of Social Services.
Unfortunately, Jeff had difficulty maintaining his sobriety a few years later, and he chose to take a leave of absence to ensure he could maintain his healthy lifestyle. After a small break, he returned to our workforce with renewed energy and the same smile. Since then, he has been promoted to a Crew Leader position and is an essential part of our daily tasks, including the orientation of new employees.
Introducing /re-find/ by Goodwill
You may have heard about a new type of store opening on April 14, 2023, in Smithsburg, MD. This store will be unique and similar in style to a boutique. Merchandise previously available at the retail stores and on the e-commerce site (www.shopgoodwill.com) but did not sell, will be given another chance at this stylized location. The name of the store will be /re-find/ by Goodwill. The name plays on the fact that these second-hand items will be given a second chance at being purchased. These items were hand selected for their uniqueness and should appeal to customers.
Paying Too Much for Prescriptions? Consider Halo Scrips!
The HaloScrips pharmacy team works with eligible members taking multiple maintenance medications. They provide clinical support and coordination with the prescribing providers to ensure all the medicines work well for the members. Our dedicated pharmacy team is available to patients via video calls, phone support, or text message. What drives significant savings for employers and patients is the ability for us to acquire medication from multiple safe sources and bulk purchase them through our process known as group synchronization. Patients receive all their medication completely free with no shipping cost or added fees every 90 days by mail. Read more about the program by downloading the Halo Scrips flyer.
To begin the process of signing up for Halo Scrips, contact Sachie Stover, Chief Customer Officer, at 800-901-4195 or sachie@haloscrips.com.
As a reminder, utilize “Ask Here” in Paycom ESS (Employee Self-Service) to connect you to a Resource Coordinator. Access our EAP (Employee Assistance Program) on the BHS Portal online or via the app at portal.BHSonline.com Username: Horizon Goodwill or call 800-327-2251.
There was no Living Our Values Award winner in March but watch for the Paycom link for the next Living Our Values Award. The nomination survey will be coming later this month!
